Launch of the documentary “Raynald Ouellet, Master of Living Traditions”
On January 19, was held the launch of the documentary “Raynald Ouellet, Master of Living Traditions” organized by the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon and supported by the Conseil québécois du patrimoine vivant. The event was held in the activity room of the Montmagny library, as part of the celebrations for Montmagny’s 375th anniversary, in front of collaborators, parents and friends.
The launch took place as a happy hour with the screening of the thirty-minute film, directed by Renaud De Repentigny and produced by the CQPV, followed by a brief question and answer session with selected team members.
The documentary presenting the concert project “Master of Living Traditions” consolidates the title of Master of Living Traditions received by Raynald Ouellet in 2020. To follow up on this nomination, the recipient had to carry out a project from a perspective of transmission of knowledge. The concert, which took place in 2021, brought together the duos of master-students Raynald Ouellet and Alexandre Patry as well as Sabin Jacques and Mathieu Baillargeon on the accordion, accompanied by Rachel Aucoin on the piano. It is the embodiment of this passing on of traditions which was captured and presented in a witness documentary produced by the Conseil québécois du patrimoine vivant.
In the coming weeks, the documentary will be presented as part of the CQPV’s activities. Then, the Council will make the documentary available to everyone on their various platforms.
