Bourque-Émissaires

Description

Father-and-son duo Bourque-Émissaires, from Verchères, has been bringing Québec traditional music to folk festivals across Canada, the United States, and Europe for many years. Well known to audiences of the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon de Montmagny, where Benoît Bourque has served as a presenter since the festival’s earliest years, Benoît and his son Antoine share a deep passion for Québec’s musical heritage and for passing along the traditional songs that have shaped their family’s journey.

Raised in this rich musical environment, Antoine Pigeon-Bourque first studied piano before turning to the accordion at the age of 16. A graduate in classical accordion from the Université de Montréal, he has developed a musical approach that is both rigorous and open-minded, exploring Québec, Irish, Breton, and musette traditions. Since 2010, father and son have performed together as Bourque Émissaires, presenting an authentic and lively repertoire where tradition, storytelling, and the joy of making music together come to life. Since 2021, Antoine has also been a member of the group Brise-Glace, dedicated to maritime songs from Europe and North America.
