Martine Billette

Description

Originally from Sainte-Barbe in Montérégie, Martine Billette grew up in a musical family and put on her first jigging shoes at the age of four. Trained by Serge Mathon, Martin Duhème, and Gilles Roy, she is recognized for her precision, rhythmic power, and deep musical sensitivity.

She has danced alongside Pierre Chartrand and Marie-Soleil Pilette in the trio Rapetipetam, as well as with Gilles Roy and The Stepping Ambassadors, establishing herself as one of the leading figures of Quebec step dancing.

Classically trained as a pianist at the Vincent-d’Indy School of Music and the Université de Montréal, she has primarily flourished in traditional music. Her professional practice has led her to accompany major musicians and perform at numerous dance events and festivals in Quebec and abroad.

Alongside her artistic career, Martine also dedicates herself to well-being, working in music therapy and teaching seniors in the Lanaudière region, where music, memory, and human connection come together and thrive.
