Denis Pépin

Description

Born in St-Basile de Portneuf, Denis Pépin began playing the accordion at the age of fifteen. By the age of 18, he was playing with the “greats” of Quebecois and Irish traditional music (Philippe Bruneau, Jean Carignan, Joe Deranne, Jules Verret), allowing him to learn the repertoires and capture the expressions unique to these styles through encounters. Denis has been teaching the accordion for over 40 years, with a focus on transmitting traditional repertoire and instrument technique. He acts as an “intergenerational tradition bearer” by teaching music with a long history to young learners, among others. The musician’s reputation extends beyond the province’s borders, with numerous concerts showcasing the richness of traditional music. Denis has made audio and video recordings, preserving evidence of his knowledge for future years.

Denis Pépin has received numerous awards.
