Tapia eta Leturia
Tapia eta Leturia
Description
The group Tapia eta Leturia, from the Basque Country, has played a key role in the revival of contemporary Basque traditional music. Formed in 1984 around Joseba Tapia (trikitixa, diatonic accordion) and Xabier Leturia (pandero, Basque tambourine), the duo quickly established itself with an energetic and innovative style rooted in traditional rhythms while opening the way to bold musical explorations.
Since the release of their first album in 1986, they have recorded several works and toured extensively internationally, including performances in the United Kingdom in 1992, and in Canada in 1994 and 1996, helping to bring Basque music to wider audiences abroad. Their work reflects a living tradition, where the popular music of the Basque Country is reimagined with intensity, energy, and modernity.
