Maude Fillion
Maude Fillion
Description
Maude Filion discovered traditional dance at a very young age through the Manigance dance company and has since specialized in Quebecois step dancing, developing an approach rooted in tradition while exploring other forms of step dancing.
A dynamic performer, she dances with the Celtic music group McCool and in the Match d’improvisation giguée (BIGICO). In 2025, she created Semelles Parallèles (Parallel Soles), a performance-talk exploring the connections between Quebecois step dancing and step dancing styles from other regions.
Her passion for living heritage also extends to the practice and teaching of fléché, a traditional Quebecois craft.
For over 20 years, Maude has taught step dancing in various organizations and settings. She also acts as a mentor to artists wishing to integrate step dancing into their artistic practice. Her expertise has led her to collaborate with, among others, the Tunisian contemporary dance company Albadil on their latest creation. She also contributes to the development of the field through various consulting and mediation mandates.
