Les pitons épistolaires
Les pitons épistolaires
Description
It was during a trip to Brittany that Quebec artist Claude Hurtubise, with her accordion slung over her shoulder, met Breton musician Régis Huiban. The unusual idea of creating a long-distance duo repertoire gradually took shape, giving birth to Les Pitons Épistolaires.
Each on their own continent, the two accordionists composed songs, melodies, and refrains, while also revisiting traditional tunes, sometimes leaving room for improvisation. Alternating between piano and accordion, Claude brings jazz-infused harmonies, along with her poetry, voice, and the influences she has gathered through her travels. Régis, on button chromatic accordion, contributes his sensitivity, rhythmic approach, and mastery of the instrument, moving seamlessly between traditional music and jazz.
A four-hand score stretched across 5,000 kilometers, their collaboration results in a unique musical creation, full of energy and expressive breath.
