Antoine Pigeon-Bourque and Alexandre Patry

Description

These two young accordionists are each connected in their own way to the extended family of the Montmagny World Accordion Crossroads. They performed as a duo for the first time last July at the Trobada Amb Els Acordionistes del Pirineu, an accordion festival in Arsèguel in the Catalan Country (Spain).

Immersed in traditional music from a young age, Antoine Pigeon-Bourque learned piano and then piano accordion, earning a degree in classical accordion from the University of Montreal. Supported by a solid technique, his musical curiosity led him to explore the music of Quebec and beyond. With Bourque Émissaires, he performs as a duo with his father, Benoit Bourque, and since 2021 with Brise-Glace, performing sea shanties from Europe and North America. Alongside these performances, he has made numerous appearances at the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon (World Accordion Crossroads), where audiences always look forward to seeing him.

Alexandre Patry’s musical journey began at a young age at the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon, where his talent on the diatonic accordion was quickly recognized. Initially a student of Raynald Ouellet’s accordion class, he performed annually at the festival. For several years now, he has directed the accordion class, a springboard for emerging talent, and since the fall of 2025, he has embarked on the adventure of programming the festival. With his musicality and commitment to authenticity, he commands the stage with a lively and precise style.

United by their passion for traditional Quebec music, these two partners invite us to immerse ourselves in its vibrant rhythms.
