21 BOuTONS

Description

21 BOuTONS is the meeting of two musical traditions—Walloon and Catalan—through the diatonic accordion. Marinette Bonnert and Pere Romaní formed the duo in 2006 in Vienna (Austria), where they met during a stay.

Since then, the duo has performed nearly 250 concerts and dances, and led around one hundred workshops in music and dance across Europe and beyond. They are often joined by dance leaders such as Aurélie Giet (Walloon dances) and Anna Romaní (Catalan dances), as well as guest musicians.

A unique case in the folk music world, 21 BOuTONS is a stable international duo active for nearly two decades, based between Belgium and Catalonia.

Their repertoire comes from exploring their respective traditions, other folk dance music, and compositions by Pere Romaní. The duo has released four CDs and two sheet music books. Their most recent album, ONZE, was recorded live in 2017 in Belgium and Catalonia.
