Serge Mathon
Description
“Gigueur” since the age of nine, passionate about percussion, Serge Mathon has taught quebecois jig for nearly 10 years.
Introduced to “la gigue” and podorythmie from a very young age by his uncle, Serge developed his skills as a dancer and percussionist through self-teaching and observation. A folklorist at heart, he teaches, regularly organizes and participates in the production of shows and entertainment, including traditionnal québecois dances, music, and traditional songs. He has been involved for over 27 years with the Réseau Québec Folklore. He now chairs Les Belles Veillées de la Batiscan, an organization that promotes part of Quebec’s intangible heritage.
