Marie-Jeanne Brousseau and Timi Turmel

Description

For the first time at the age of 11, Marie-Jeanne Brousseau discovered the accordion and was fascinated by the vibrant and creative world of traditional music. She began her apprenticeship with the renowned accordionist Yves Hélie, who acted as her teacher and mentor for several years. Today, Marie-Jeanne continues her musical journey around the world, being part of the programming of the Carrefour Mondial de l’Accordéon for nearly 15 years, and performing abroad alongside several Quebecois dance companies.

Across the globe, Timi Turmel is considered one of the masters of the diatonic accordion. Growing up in a family of exceptional musicians, he draws inspiration from the legacy passed down by his father, uncle, and grandfather. From a very young age, Timi has performed on the traditional stage both in Quebec and internationally. He currently plays in the ensemble “Cécilia” alongside Louis Schryer and Erin Leahy, where his energetic, nuanced, virtuosic, and modern playing style blends seamlessly.
