Kosta Bozhinov is a classically-trained folk musician, teacher, and researcher, originally hailing from Dobrich, Bulgaria, and now calling Vancouver, Canada home since 2006. With proficiency in guitar, lute, accordion, piano, and organ, Kosta’s musical journey has been deeply rooted in improvisation and aural tradition. His academic pursuits led him to obtain degrees from Douglas College, the University of British Columbia, and McGill University, culminating in a PhD in musicology from the University of Victoria, with a focus on baroque music.
Kosta’s performance repertoire spans a wide range of ensembles, including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Opera Victoria, the Vancouver Bach choir, the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, the Kensington Sinfonia, and the Sidney Classical Orchestra. He has also contributed to soundtracks for films and video games, showcasing his versatility as a recording artist.
