Description
Germain Leduc, born in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka, south of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, is a highly sought-after musician specializing in Quebec folklore, whether on piano or violin. He began playing the organ at the age of 3, taught solely by his mother, Rita, who herself learned by ear. At 15, he picked up the violin and piano in the traditional Quebec style.
A three-time finalist in the Compétition des Grands Maîtres Violoneux du Canada, he won the audience choice award in 2017. Through the dance troupe Manigance, he has traveled with his violin to international folklore festivals in Hungary, Peru, Mexico, and the United States. In addition to being part of the Kin Ben Ta Tuque group, he accompanies renowned Ontario fiddler Scott Woods on tours across Canada and the United States, as well as virtuoso Albertan Calvin Vollrath during his tours in Quebec and Ontario.
Highly involved with the Réseau Québec Folklore and the Association Québécoise des Loisirs Folkloriques Sud-Ouest, where he has been the musical director for several years, he contributes to the promotion and preservation of Quebec’s folklore.
