Our Mission

The primary mission of the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon is to foster appreciation of the accordion and its tradition bearers by showcasing a diversity of musical styles that feature the instrument.

The organization also works to raise public awareness through music education. Social inclusion and sustainable development are important concerns for the organization, as reflected in various strategic decisions made in recent years.

Sustainable Development in Action

First drafted in 2015, the Sustainable Development Policy for the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon was updated and officially adopted in 2023.

During the festival and throughout the year, we take concrete action to reduce our environmental footprint. Our regional partners, Élan Collectif and Terra-Terre Solution Écologique, support us in these efforts. In 2023, we earned “Ici Je Recyc +” certification from Recyc-Québec, the provincial agency that oversees responsible waste management.

Here are some of the measures we’re implementing at the festival in 2023

  • Installation of sorting stations (compost, recycling, returnables, waste) managed by a green brigade.
  • Total elimination of plastic water bottles at all sites. Installation of water fountains at outdoor sites.
  • Use of returnable or compostable dishes and cutlery.
  • Implementation of a free shuttle service for festival-goers.
  • Use of reusable bibs for volunteers.
  • Use of FSC-certified paper for printing.
