École internationale de musique
The École internationale de musique de Montmagny provides students of all skill levels with comprehensive and diverse musical training on a wide range of instruments.
Our Course OfferingsAbout the School
Founded by the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon, the École internationale de musique de Montmagny caters to students of all ages and skill levels from Montmagny and the surrounding area. The school offers courses on a wide range of instruments. Both individual and group classes are available. Interested students can take the preparatory exams for admission to the music program at Laval University.
Students also have the opportunity to perform at concerts and musical events organized throughout the year. The school collaborates on various community projects, including music day camps. Since 2018, classes have also been offered at a satellite location in Saint-Fabien-de-Panet.
Launched in fall 2015, our diatonic accordion classes are designed to help young people discover the region’s musical heritage. Since 2016, program participants have shared the stage at the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon with local and visiting artists.

Policies
In recent years, the École internationale de musique de Montmagny has adopted various policies. If you have any questions or require further information, feel free to contact us by email at ecoledemusique@accordeonmontmagny.com or by telephone at 418-248-7927, ext. 6.
Student Absences
Students are expected to attend class regularly throughout the session, according to the established schedule.
Students should advise their teacher of any absences 24 hours in advance. If a student fails to advise their teacher of an absence, the teacher is not required to make up the class.
A lesson will be rescheduled if there is a valid reason for the student’s absence. Valid reasons include a death in the family, illness, or a schedule conflict caused by a school-related educational requirement. A legitimate absence is one where the student has no choice but to be absent. (For example, taking part in a sporting event is a choice.)
Repeated absences without a valid reason will automatically result in lost classes.
Missed group classes cannot be made up.
Late Arrival
Teachers are not required to make up time lost due to a student’s late arrival.
However, students will be credited for any time lost due to a teacher’s late arrival.
Teachers are free to leave if a student does not arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start of a class.
Teacher Absences
Teachers must advise management of any absences.
If a teacher is absent, the lesson will be postponed or credited automatically. In these cases, the teacher is responsible for providing a new schedule that meets the affected student’s needs.
The teacher is responsible for contacting the student to arrange any rescheduled classes.
Should a teacher be unable to notify all impacted students, the teacher may ask management for assistance.
Winter Storms
If conditions improve over the course of a day when a storm has caused cancellations, the teacher will contact the student to discuss the available options: hold an in-person lesson, hold a virtual lesson or postpone the class. Depending on a given teacher’s place of residence, some classes may go ahead while others may be cancelled.
In bad weather, we strongly recommend attending class virtually. At the start of the session, you should confirm with your teacher whether they can provide virtual lessons.
Refund Policy
Fees are refundable if a course is cancelled before the sixth (6th) class. Fees are not refundable after the sixth (6th) class. With approval from management and in certain exceptional cases, a course cancelled after the sixth (6th) class may be refundable.
Harassment policy
In 2019, the École internationale de musique adopted a Harassment Policy. If you require assistance in this regard, feel free to contact management by phone at 418-248-7927, ext. 5, or by email at direction@accordeonmontmagny.com.
