Permanent Exhibitions
The Musée de l’accordéon welcomes you with two permanent exhibitions!
Launched in 2021, The Many Sounds of the Accordion! presents musicians and cultures that made the accordion their own through the many styles and genres that we came to know and appreciate today. The exhibition includes a dynamic youth’s corner and an interactive digital trail powered by Mysmartjourney.
This project was made possible thanks to the ministère de l’Administration municipale et de l’Habitation, the cultural partnerships of both the city of Montmagny and the MRC of Montmagny and by the programme Héritage du 37e sponsored by the city of Montmagny.
The second exhibition Totally Traditional! details the evolution of the diatonic accordion in the province of Quebec throughout its particularities, dance traditions, and families’ history.

Virtual exhibition
The Musée de l’accordéon offers a virtual exhibition about the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon: The Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon: 30 Years of Passion! For more than 30 years, the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon made his mark as a place of exchange between musicians from here and abroad who come from different artistic scopes. The festival has nowadays impacts on the international, provincials and also locals stages. The event combines music, fun, and tradition to offer the public the pleasure of sharing the moment.
This online exhibition is possible thanks to the financing of Digital Museums Canada under the investment of Community Stories Collection. This program is managed by the Canadian Museum of History, with the financial support of the Canadian government. This is also thanks to the collaboration of the Société d’Histoire de Montmagny and several inhabitants of Montmagny that this exhibition has been made possible. Let yourself be surprised by the « chills box » and its musicians !
