The Montmagny International School of Music invites you to spend the summer in its ranks.

Children from 6 to 12 years old are invited to join the “EXPLO-TRAD D’ICI” day camp. The activities will take place at the International School of Music located at 101 C avenue Ste-Julie in Montmagny from July 18 to 22 and from July 25 to 29, 2022. In partnership with MusiQue d’ICI, the City of Montmagny, the MRC of Montmagny as well as the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon, the music school will open its doors to children for a week or two of your choice. The class schedule will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a program to learn about instruments and one to deepen your knowledge of the traditional repertoire.

1- Exploration: This first part is for all young people curious to learn about the various instruments: violin, accordion, piano, guitar and percussion. They will learn how to hold the instrument, sound production techniques, the basic notions of music, the learning of three pieces and the accompaniment of the group to deepen the repertoire.

2- Exploration of the traditional repertoire: This second part is aimed at young people who already have mastered the violin or the accordion. Learning the repertoire will be done by ear with scores/tabs as a memory aid for the new interpretation techniques worked on.

Registrations will be made with the City of Montmagny as of May 13, 2022. The cost will be $150 per week and $120 for holders of the loisir card. Adjusted instruments, and of the right size, for each of the children will be provided for the time of the camp. For more information, you can contact Montmagny’s recreation department at 418 248-6022.
